GATHER: CAMPUS KITCHEN AND BIG BLUE PANTRY

THESIS
Campus Kitchen and Big Blue Pantry serve as outlets that seve the community of the University of Kentucky. Big Blue Pantry allows for students to gather items and supplies they need free of charge whenever desired or required;the Campus Kitchen allows students and faculty to gather together to partake in a free meal once every week. The brand “gather” unites both servies and allows them to not only have visual connection, but also connection in the way they function as indivudal operations. The use of hexagons within the logo as well as space planning is intentional. Hexagons are considered the strongest shape and the hexagon motif is commonly seen in DNA - just as the shape is used to symbolize strength and vitality,
Campus Kitchen and Big Blue Pantry serve as symbols of strength and vitality through each organization’s positive impact on food insecurity on the University of Kentucky’s campus. Thus, subtle hexagon shapes are used throughout each re-designed space, whether it be through elements of the floorplan or various finishes.
