PROJECT BRIEF

The LexArts building in downtown Lexington requires impactful programming as well as multi-generational dwelling units that demonstrate the knowledge of inclusive design in an adaptive reuse setting. Through analyzing circulation paths and building flow, the project allows for insight into creating spaces for aging in place as well as community diversification.

Utilizing research processes as well as knowledge of empathetic design, the project deliverables called for a building that displayed inclusive design as well as a variety of commercial and retail elements that would entertain as well as educate the general public. The overall solution resulted in a multi-use building that accommodates a variety of interests and lifestyles through coffee shop/bookstore, art gallery, studio space, and a rooftop cafe and garden experience. Not only does this engage the community, it also acts as a hub of activity that welcomes outsiders in.
